The BU Retirement Savings Program consists of three plans, working together:
- The BU Retirement Plan, fully funded by the University through core (automatic) and matching contributions.
- The Supplemental Retirement & Savings Plan, funded by your individual contributions, giving you an easy, tax-advantaged way to save for retirement.
- When you contribute up to 3% of your base pay to this plan, BU makes matching contributions to the BU Retirement Plan once you are eligible.
- The 457(b) Savings Plan, funded by your individual contributions, is designed to provide highly compensated faculty and staff earning more than $180,000 with an additional tax-deferred savings option.
You decide how to invest all contributions to your retirement accounts—the University’s contributions and your own. These retirement plans create a powerful combination for your financial future.
