INTRODUCING THE NEW BU RETIREMENT SAVINGS PROGRAM COMING JANUARY 1, 2018

Designed to encourage personal savings and ensure equitable BU contributions across all age groups and salary levels, your retirement benefits include a set of plans collectively called the BU Retirement Savings Program.

The BU Retirement Savings Program consists of three plans, working together:

  • The BU Retirement Plan, fully funded by the University through core (automatic) and matching contributions.
  • The Supplemental Retirement & Savings Plan, funded by your individual contributions, giving you an easy, tax-advantaged way to save for retirement.
  • When you contribute up to 3% of your base pay to this plan, BU makes matching contributions to the BU Retirement Plan once you are eligible.
  • The 457(b) Savings Plan, funded by your individual contributions, is designed to provide highly compensated faculty and staff earning more than $180,000 with an additional tax-deferred savings option.

You decide how to invest all contributions to your retirement accounts—the University’s contributions and your own. These retirement plans create a powerful combination for your financial future.
