The OU Retirement Plan is a 401(a) Defined Contribution Plan (DCP). For employees hired on or before 12/31/22: Your OTRS annual contribution is 7% of your total compensation package. Total compensation is the sum of base earnings, employer-paid insurance premiums (health, dental, life, and AD&D), and the amount the university contributes to your OU Contributory Retirement Plan, which is a 401(a) defined contribution plan. For employees hired on or after 1/1/23: Your OTRS annual contribution is 7% of your total compensation package. Total compensation is the sum of base earnings and employer-paid insurance premiums (health, dental, life, and AD&D).

The OU Contributory Retirement Plan is a 401(a) Defined Contribution Plan (DCP). In this plan, OU contributes 8% of your base pay over $9,000. You do not contribute. You direct the investment of your account. The amount you receive at retirement depends on how much has accumulated in your account over the years you have participated in the plan.

As one of your Voluntary Retirement Plan options available at OU, the 403(b) Plan allows you to supplement your retirement savings through voluntary contributions. Any university employee is eligible to participate in a voluntary retirement plan. You elect the amount of your pre-tax contribution (within IRS limits), and your investment elections.
