New Hire Frequently Asked Questions
Enrollment and accessing benefits websites
I am a rehire to Disney. How do I know what vesting requirements or waiting periods apply to me?
Individual situations vary. Contact the Disney Benefits Center at 1-800-354-3970 for information specific to you.
I can’t log in to the Disney Benefits Portal. What do I do?
It can take up to 5-7 business days after your hire date to access the employee login site. Use the “Future employee” option or contact the Disney Benefits Center for assistance.
I have a previous account with Fidelity. How do I log in and find Disney information?
Log in using your previous Fidelity credentials or select the option for “Forgot password?” After you log in, you can select the employer you want to view at the top right of the NetBenefits page. You can change the employer you are viewing by looking for your former employer’s name at the top middle of the screen and clicking on their name to change to THE WALT DISNEY COMPANY or back to a former employer.
What dependents can I cover?
Your Spouse/Domestic Partner, your natural, adopted, foster, legal guardianship, or stepchildren and/or your Spouse/Domestic Partner’s children up to age 26. They don’t have to be full-time students, and they don’t have to live with you. They can be married or unmarried. Keep in mind, if you add a domestic partner or domestic partner’s child to coverage, you will be subject to imputed income as required by the IRS.
What is sent to new hires for enrollment? Is it different for hourly vs. salaried?
For your health coverage, hourly employees receive a packet in the mail within 7-14 days. Salaried employees receive an email within within 5-7 days of hire date. 401(k) communications are sent separately.
Do I need to wait for a packet in the mail or email before I can enroll?
No. Allow 5-7 days after your hire date for your information to show at Fidelity before enrolling.
If I am planning to relocate after I enroll, can I change my benefits elections?
Yes, if your new ZIP code doesn’t offer the medical plan you are currently enrolled in. Consumer Choice, Basic PPO, and Cigna HMO are nationwide plans, and therefore won’t offer an option to change when you move.
If I have a change in my family situation during the year, can I change my benefits elections?
Certain family status changes like marriage, divorce, birth/adoption, etc. are qualified life events and allow changes to certain benefits mid-year. You must contact the Disney Benefits Center or make the change on NetBenefits within 31 days after the effective date of the change.
How do I register for Nationwide Virtual Care?
Go to myclw.com/virtual-care for information on registering. If you are enrolled in a Kaiser or HMSA medical plan, please contact them directly for your virtual care options.
Medical and Wellness Rewards
How do I earn Wellness Rewards by completing Headspace activities?
Keep in mind that it takes up to 30 days for you to be able to register for Headspace. Once you register and complete 5 mindfulness sessions, you will be sent an email inviting you to complete a form online for your rewards. It takes 4-6 weeks from the date you submit this form for your reward to be deposited into your Health Savings Account or Health Reimbursement Account.
If I enroll in an HMO, how do I know when and if a referral is required?
This varies by the HMO you select. For most specialists, referrals from your PCP are required. Contact your medical carrier directly after they receive your eligibility information to discuss your specific questions regarding when and if referrals are required.
If I enroll in the Consumer Choice medical plan, when will I receive the employer contribution to my Health Savings account, and will it be prorated?
It can take 4-6 weeks after you enroll for the employer contribution to appear. The contribution is NOT prorated, so if you join mid-year, you still receive the full employer contribution.
Financial Well-Being
I have a 401(k) with a former employer. How do I initiate a rollover into the Disney 401(k)?
Log in to NetBenefits, click “Retirement Savings” and then “Disney SIP,” then click the tab labeled “Rollovers” or contact the Disney Benefits Center at 1-800-354-3970.
I have a Health Savings Account (HSA) with a former employer. How do I initiate a rollover into Disney’s HSA?
Allow time after you enroll (5-7 days) for Optum Bank to receive your eligibility data and then contact them directly for help rolling over a balance. See the Contacts page on the Disney Benefits Portal.
If I had an HSA and/or a 401(k) at a former employer, how do I make sure that I don’t exceed the IRS allowable maximum for each?
Monitoring the maximums is your responsibility. Use your statements from your former HSA and/or 401(k) provider to learn how much you have contributed for the current year and set your contribution amounts/percentages with Disney so that you will not exceed the maximums.
What is the difference between the 401(k) and the Disney Retirement Savings Plan (DRSP)?
You can make your own contributions to the 401(k) account as well as receive employer match. The DRSP account (for salaried employees only) is only funded by employer contributions and doesn’t have the option to invest in Company stock.
What are the vesting requirements for the 401(k) and Disney Retirement Savings Plan (DRSP)?
You are always fully vested immediately in your own and any employer match in the 401(k). For the DRSP, you are vested after 3 years of employment. If you leave before then, you forfeit any balance.
